Product Recall in UAE: How to Check Electronics and Appliances

    📌

    Complete guide: Consumer Rights Uae

    UAE Product Safety Check

Check the Exact Appliance or Electronic Device

A recall does not always cover every product sold under the same name. Eligibility may depend on the complete model number, serial number, batch code, manufacturing period or regional version of the product.

Record the product label first, search the UAE government recall channels, then confirm the result with the manufacturer or UAE distributor before arranging repair, collection, replacement or refund.

    First step
Find the exact model and serial or batch number.
    UAE checks
Search both the Ministry of Economy and Tourism recall pages and the MoIAT Manaa system.
    Final confirmation
Match the production range and obtain confirmation from the manufacturer or UAE distributor.
    No result found
A missing listing does not prove that a product with dangerous symptoms is safe.

Find the Product Label Before Searching

Searching for a broad phrase such as Samsung washing machine recall or air fryer recall UAE may identify a product family, but it cannot confirm whether a particular unit is affected.

Take a clear photograph of the product label and record every letter, number, dash and suffix. A model ending in -AE, -GCC, -EU or another regional code may differ from a visually identical product sold elsewhere.

    Model Number

Identifies the product version or series. The complete model code matters, including letters after the main number.

    Serial Number

Identifies an individual unit. It may be used to determine whether the unit was made within an affected production range.

    Batch or Lot Code

Groups products made during the same production run. This is common on chargers, batteries and small appliances.

    Manufacturing Date

Shows when the unit was made. It is not the same as the date shown on the purchase receipt.

Privacy note: Share a full serial number or IMEI only through a trusted manufacturer, government or provider channel. Do not publish it in a public comment, forum or social media post.

    Common Label Locations

Product Where to Look What to Record
Refrigerator Inside the door frame, side wall or rear panel Model, serial and production date
Washing machine or dryer Door frame, rear panel or filter-door area Model, serial and manufacturing code
Dishwasher Side or upper edge of the open door Model, product number and serial
Split air conditioner Side label on the indoor unit and label on the outdoor unit Both unit model numbers and both serial numbers
Television Rear label or device information menu Full model code, screen size and serial
Microwave or oven Door frame, side panel or rear label Model, serial and electrical rating
Laptop Bottom case, BIOS, support application or system information Model, serial or service tag
Mobile phone or tablet Settings menu, original box or SIM tray Model number, serial and IMEI when requested
Charger or powerbank Printed underside, rear face or side label Model, batch code and electrical rating
Small kitchen appliance Base plate, underside or power-cord area Model, type number and batch code

Split air conditioners require two checks. The indoor and outdoor units can have different model and serial numbers. Record both before contacting support.

Use the UAE Recall Channels in the Right Order

    1. Search the UAE Electronics Recall Category

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism publishes announced recalls by product classification. Open the Electrical Products, Equipment and Electronics category and compare the listed brand, exact model, manufacturing period and stated defect.

    Open the Electronics Recall Category

    2. Search the Manaa Recalled Products Database

Manaa is the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology product recall management system. It provides a central recalled-products database and reporting routes for non-conforming products, recalled products found in the market and product-related incidents.

    Search Manaa Recalled Products

    3. Check the Manufacturer’s UAE or Regional Support Route

A government notice may identify an affected product family while the manufacturer uses a serial-number checker to confirm individual units. Use the manufacturer’s UAE or Middle East support website rather than an unofficial recall checker.

    4. Confirm the UAE Distributor or Retailer

Check the invoice, warranty registration, online order history or delivery record. The seller, importer or UAE distributor can affect where the product must be inspected, collected or repaired.

Do not stop after finding a matching product name. The exact model suffix, serial range, batch number or manufacturing period must also match the recall notice.

Match the Recall Notice to Your Exact Unit

A useful match requires more than the same photograph or product series. Work through each field before treating the product as recalled.

    • Does the complete model number match?
    • Does the regional suffix match?
    • Is the manufacturing date within the listed period?
    • Is the serial number inside the affected range?
    • Does the batch or lot code match?
    • Does the notice cover the same size, capacity or electrical version?
    • Was the product sold through the UAE distribution channel named in the notice?
    • Is the notice a safety recall, corrective action or service programme?

Why One Missing Letter Can Change the Result

    Label Detail Why It Matters
Regional suffix The same product family may use different components, plugs, voltage ratings or distributors in different markets.
Capacity or size A recall may affect one refrigerator capacity, television size or appliance configuration but not the others.
Production date The defect may relate to components installed only during a limited manufacturing period.
Serial range Two identical-looking units may have been produced in different factories or production runs.
Batch number Chargers, batteries and small appliances may be identified by a batch instead of an individual serial range.

Does an Overseas Recall Cover a UAE Product?

A recall announced in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union or another country may concern the same product family without automatically covering the version sold in the UAE.

Regional products can differ by voltage, plug, battery supplier, internal component, model suffix, manufacturing plant or importer. A product brought into the UAE privately may also sit outside the local distributor’s service route.

What You Found What It Shows Next Action
UAE government recall notice The campaign has been announced for the UAE market. Match the exact model, serial, batch and production details.
Manufacturer’s global recall The issue may affect more than one country. Use the UAE or regional eligibility checker and support channel.
Recall published only by another country UAE coverage has not been confirmed by that notice alone. Contact the manufacturer and UAE distributor with the complete model and serial number.
News article without a campaign reference The report may omit production ranges or remedy instructions. Locate the original government or manufacturer notice.
Forum or social media post The claim has not been verified. Do not rely on it as proof of recall eligibility.

Imported product: If the device was bought abroad, record the purchase country and regional model code. The UAE distributor may direct the owner to the manufacturer or to the recall process in the original sales market.

Read Every Part of the Recall Notice

A recall notice should explain which products are affected, what the defect is and what the owner must do. Do not focus only on the brand name or headline.

    Product Identification

Check the product name, full model code, type number, serial range, batch code and manufacturing period.

    Hazard or Defect

Look for the stated risk, such as overheating, fire, electric shock, pressure release, mechanical failure or an unsafe component.

    Immediate Instruction

The notice may require owners to stop using the product, disconnect it, install an update or continue using it only under stated conditions.

    Remedy

The stated route may be inspection, software correction, part replacement, free repair, product exchange, collection or refund.

    Campaign Reference

Save the recall, campaign or service-programme number. It helps the provider locate the correct procedure.

    Contact Route

Use the telephone number, website, retailer, distributor or service provider named in the notice.

When to Stop Using the Product

Follow the stop-use instruction in the recall notice. Even without a confirmed listing, certain symptoms justify stopping normal use while the product is assessed.

    Condition Safer Immediate Response
Smoke, flame, sparks or a strong burning smell Move away from the product, keep others away and contact emergency services. Do not touch or move a burning device.
Swollen, leaking or unusually hot battery Stop charging and using it. Do not press, bend, puncture, crush or place it in household waste.
Electric shock or tingling from the casing Stop use. Disconnect power only when it can be done without touching a damaged or wet area.
Melted plug, cable or power adapter Do not reconnect it for testing. Keep the damaged parts for inspection.
Water leaking near electrical components Keep away from the wet area and isolate electricity only when it is safe to do so.
Door, lid, blade guard or safety lock failure Do not operate the appliance until the defect and recall status are checked.
Software correction stated in the notice Follow the named update route and confirm that the model is eligible before installing unofficial files.

Do not recreate a dangerous fault for a video. Repeatedly switching on an overheating charger, battery or appliance can increase the risk and may damage evidence needed for the claim.

What to Do When the Product Matches

    1. Follow the Stop-Use Instruction

Stop using, charging or operating the product when the notice tells owners to do so. Do not continue until the appointment date simply because the product still appears to work.

    2. Photograph the Identification Label

Take clear photographs of the model, serial, batch and manufacturing information. Photograph the whole product and any visible damage without operating it again.

    3. Save Proof of Purchase

Keep the invoice, online order page, delivery note, card record, warranty registration or retailer account record.

    4. Save the Recall Result

Keep a screenshot or PDF showing the campaign reference, affected model and serial-number result.

    5. Contact the Named UAE Route

Contact the manufacturer, UAE distributor, retailer or service provider identified in the campaign. Ask for written confirmation that the unit is eligible.

    6. Request a Case Number

Record the support ticket, job card, collection reference or case number and the name of the organisation handling the remedy.

    7. Confirm Every Charge Before Handover

Ask whether inspection, labour, parts, home collection and return transport are covered. Do not assume a recall-related visit is free until the campaign terms are confirmed.

    8. Obtain a Completion Record

After repair or replacement, keep the receipt or job card showing the campaign work, parts replaced and product serial number.

    Information to Send to Support

    • Product type and brand
    • Complete model number
    • Serial, batch or IMEI when requested through a secure channel
    • Manufacturing date
    • Purchase date and seller
    • UAE emirate and collection location
    • Recall or campaign reference
    • Screenshot of the eligibility result
    • Description of any smoke, heat, shock, swelling, leakage or mechanical failure
    • Photographs of the label and visible damage

    Manufacturer, Retailer or Repair Provider?

A safety recall is not the same as arranging a normal paid repair. Use the route named in the recall notice before allowing another provider to open or modify the product.

Route Use This Route When What to Confirm Possible Risk
Manufacturer support The brand operates the eligibility check or recall campaign. Serial eligibility, campaign reference, remedy and UAE handling route Using the wrong regional support page may produce an incomplete result.
Assigned or authorized provider The campaign directs affected owners to a named service company. Authorization for this campaign, appointment rule, collection and paperwork A provider may service the brand without being assigned to every recall.
UAE distributor or retailer The notice directs customers to the seller, importer or local agent. Proof-of-purchase requirements, return point, transport and remedy The retailer may first need confirmation from the distributor.
Independent repair Only after recall eligibility has been ruled out or the manufacturer has provided written direction. Written estimate, part type, service warranty, job card and replaced parts Opening or modifying the product may affect recall evidence, warranty or eligibility.
Unconfirmed provider Not recommended for recall handling until status is verified. Legal business identity and written proof that it can perform the campaign work The provider may charge for work that is not recognised by the campaign.

Confirm recall eligibility before independent repair. A third-party repair may affect manufacturer warranty or the ability to inspect the original defect, depending on the brand policy, repair type, product condition and parts used.

    Repair, Replacement, Collection or Refund

UAE consumer protection legislation requires providers to act when a product defect or safety risk is discovered. The law and its Executive Regulations address notification, removal of unsafe goods and remedies that can include repair, replacement, recovery of the product or reimbursement.

The exact outcome for an individual owner depends on the recall notice, product condition, campaign terms and the process set by the responsible provider and competent authority. A listing does not mean that every owner can automatically choose any remedy.

    Inspection

The unit may need to be examined before final eligibility or remedy is confirmed.

    Software Correction

A firmware or safety-setting update may address the issue without replacing the whole product.

    Free Repair

The affected component may be repaired or replaced under the campaign procedure.

    Product Replacement

The provider may replace the product or an affected assembly when repair is not the selected remedy.

    Collection or Return

Large appliances may be collected or inspected at home. Smaller devices may need to be taken to a named location.

    Refund

A refund may apply when stated by the campaign or required through the applicable consumer protection process.

Ask for written terms: Confirm whether inspection, labour, parts, collection and return transport are included before agreeing to any payment.

    If the Receipt Is Missing

The model and serial number may still allow the manufacturer to determine whether a product is within an affected production range. A receipt may be requested for a refund, purchase-value calculation, retailer return or proof that the unit entered the UAE through a particular seller.

    Possible purchase evidence includes:

    • Retailer account or online order history
    • Email order confirmation
    • Delivery note
    • Warranty registration
    • Card or bank transaction record
    • Previous service record linked to the serial number
    • Gift receipt
    • Invoice copy requested from the seller

Do not assume that a missing receipt ends the claim or that it will never be required. Ask the campaign handler which document is needed for the remedy being offered.

    Online, Marketplace and Imported Products

Product Bought from a UAE Online Store

Open the order details and identify the business that issued the invoice. The platform name, marketplace operator and actual third-party seller may be different organisations.

    • Save the order number and invoice.
    • Record the seller’s legal or trading name.
    • Check whether UAE manufacturer warranty was stated.
    • Compare the regional model code with the recall notice.
    • Ask whether the retailer or UAE distributor will arrange collection.

Product Bought from a Marketplace Seller

Keep a copy of the original listing, seller details, warranty wording and invoice. Contact both the seller and the manufacturer when the platform does not control the recall process directly.

    Product Brought from Another Country

Confirm the original sales country, model suffix and manufacturer region. The local distributor may not handle a unit that was not supplied through its UAE channel, although the manufacturer may provide another recall route.

Do not mail a swollen, damaged or recalled lithium battery without instructions. Battery transport is subject to carrier safety restrictions. Obtain the manufacturer’s approved collection or disposal direction first.

    Grey-Market Product

A grey-market product is not automatically counterfeit, but it may have been sold outside the manufacturer’s UAE distribution route. Confirm the regional model, seller identity, UAE warranty status and recall handling process before handing it to a repair provider.

    Second-Hand, Rental and Landlord-Supplied Appliances

    Buying a Used Product

Check the recall status before payment when buying a used appliance or electronic device. A missing, altered or unreadable identification label makes reliable verification difficult.

    • Confirm that the model and serial label is present and readable.
    • Check for repair, rewiring or plug-conversion marks.
    • Ask whether recall work was already completed.
    • Request the service record or campaign completion receipt.
    • Do not rely only on the seller’s statement that the product is safe.

Appliance Supplied with a Rental Property

If a landlord-supplied refrigerator, washing machine, cooker or air conditioner appears to match a recall, photograph the label and notify the landlord or property manager in writing. Follow any stop-use instruction and do not arrange an unauthorised alteration without confirming responsibility and the recall route.

Repair-cost responsibility can depend on the tenancy agreement, the defect, appliance ownership and the selected remedy. Keep the recall notice and all written communication.

    Hotel or Holiday-Rental Appliance

Stop using the appliance and notify the accommodation operator. Do not remove, dismantle or transport a product owned by the property. Request a safe alternative when the affected item is needed during the stay.

If the Product Is Not Listed but Appears Unsafe

A product may develop a dangerous defect before a public recall appears, or the problem may concern a different model or production run. Stop normal use when the product shows symptoms such as:

    • Repeated overheating during ordinary use
    • Battery swelling or leakage
    • Melting, scorch marks or burning smell
    • Electric shock
    • Unexpected activation
    • Failure of a safety lock, guard, lid or pressure mechanism
    • Exposed wiring
    • Missing product identification or safety information
    • The same failure occurring in more than one unit

The Manaa system provides routes to report a non-conforming product, a recalled product still found in the market and an incident involving a product.

    Evidence to Keep

    • Photograph of the product label
    • Photograph of the complete product
    • Close-up of visible damage
    • Receipt or order information
    • Date, location and normal use conditions when the problem occurred
    • Description of smoke, heat, shock, leakage or injury
    • Seller and distributor information
    • Support case and service records

If the Seller or Service Provider Refuses to Help

    Request the Reason in Writing

Ask whether the refusal is based on the model, serial range, purchase region, missing proof of purchase, campaign period or provider status.

    Separate Recall Eligibility from Warranty

A normal warranty expiry does not by itself prove that a safety recall is unavailable. Ask the provider to check the campaign rather than only the standard warranty record.

Contact the Manufacturer or UAE Distributor

Send the recall reference, product label, receipt evidence and the written refusal. Ask which organisation is assigned to handle the unit.

    Keep the Product Unmodified

Do not pay another provider to open or alter the product while eligibility is disputed unless a safety authority or manufacturer provides another instruction.

    Use the Consumer Complaint Route

If the matter remains unresolved, review the Ministry of Economy and Tourism consumer complaint information and retain all documents. The competent authority may request the invoice, correspondence, campaign notice and provider response.

Questions About UAE Electronics and Appliance Recalls

Can a recall be checked with only a serial number?

Not always. Many searches require both the complete model and serial or batch number. The model identifies the product version, while the serial or batch identifies the affected production group.

My model appears in the notice but my serial number does not. Is it recalled?

The matching model alone is not enough when the notice limits coverage to a serial, batch or manufacturing range. Confirm the full details through the manufacturer or campaign handler.

Does a recall from another country automatically apply in the UAE?

No automatic assumption should be made. Regional versions can use different components, production plants and model suffixes. Check UAE sources and request written confirmation from the manufacturer.

Can a product qualify after its normal warranty has expired?

It may. A safety recall or service campaign can use different eligibility rules from the normal warranty. The campaign terms and exact product identification determine the result.

Is the original receipt always required?

It may not be needed to identify an affected serial number, but it can be requested for a refund, retailer return, purchase-value confirmation or proof of the original sales market.

Can a second-hand owner use a recall campaign?

Some campaigns follow the product rather than the original buyer, but this must be confirmed. Check whether the serial is affected and whether the recall work was already completed.

Should I pay an inspection fee for a recalled product?

Do not assume that a fee is payable or waived. Ask the campaign handler to confirm in writing whether inspection, transport, labour and parts are included before handing over the product.

What should I do when no recall is listed but the device looks dangerous?

Stop using it when there is smoke, heat, swelling, electric shock, melting or safety-mechanism failure. Contact the manufacturer and use the Manaa reporting route for a non-conforming product or product-related incident.

Does Dubai Service Finder publish service-provider ratings?

Dubai Service Finder does not publish user reviews, ratings or testimonials. Users should verify the provider’s current service status, address and terms directly before visiting or handing over a product.
